Preparing to Join the Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue
Prior to Disney World’s pandemic closure, the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue only opened once each day right at park opening. Guests needed to arrive at the park well before the park opening time and enter the park in order to join the virtual queue.
Now, the virtual queue opens twice per day at 7 AM and 1 PM with the first enrollment beginning before the park even opens.
In advance, install the My Disney Experience app on your phone and link everyone with a ticket who will be riding Rise of the Resistance to your Disney account. You probably already have this step complete from purchasing your Disney World tickets, but double check to make sure everyone is listed in your Friends & Family List. Only one person NEEDS to do this for your party, but all adults should complete this step and attempt to join the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue for everyone so you will all have the best chance of success!
A limited number of guests may be assigned at each enrollment time and the queue fills up quickly. Be sure you are logged into your My Disney Experience mobile app and ready to join the virtual queue precisely when it opens.
The Rise of the Resistance virtual queue is only available to guests with a Hollywood Studios park reservation. Read all about how to make Disney World park reservations.
The height requirement for Rise of the Resistance is 40″ so measure the kiddos beforehand to avoid any potential disappointment in the park. Disney is strict about height requirements so it’ll be much better to get the tears out at home before your trip than while AT Disney World!
Join the Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue at 7 AM
As long as you have a Hollywood Studios park reservation and valid theme park admission for the day, you may attempt to join the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue when it first opens at 7 AM.
For this enrollment time, guests to not need to be at the park. Attempt your first virtual queue enrollment of the day from the comfort of your hotel room in your jammies!
Using the My Disney Experience mobile app, tap the “Join” button in the “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Request Access with Virtual Queue” section of the app’s main screen precisely at 7:00.
Refresh the app or close and reopen it if the Join button is not active. Keep trying until someone in your party is successful!
Make sure that all adults in your party have everyone linked in their My Disney Experience Friends & Family List and they all attempt to join the virtual queue for everyone. This will give your party a better chance of joining the virtual queue and you won’t be so worried if anyone experiences difficulty with the app.
Second Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue Enrollment at 1 PM
Did you miss out on the 7 AM virtual queue enrollment?
No worries. The virtual queue will open up again at 1 PM.
For this second enrollment of the day, all guests must be inside the park when attempting to join the virtual queue.
Do you have tickets that allow park hopping? If you’re considering hopping to Hollywood Studios after visiting a different park earlier in the day, you will not be able to attempt to join the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue. Only guests with a Hollywood Studios park reservation and who visit Hollywood Studios as their first park of the day will have access to the virtual queue.
Since the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue fills up within seconds, find a spot to sit a rest several minutes before 1 PM so you’ll be focused and ready for the important task at hand.
Close the My Disney Experience app entirely while you wait. You’ll want to open it fresh just seconds before the virtual queue opens.
Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone. Use Cellular Data for a better chance since Disney Wi-Fi will often get overwhelmed by all of the users in the park.
Just before 1 PM, a Rise of the Resistance virtual queue announcement will be heard over loudspeakers. Ignore it. The virtual queue will open precisely on time regardless of the instruction given by the announcement!
In the final minute, pay attention to the second hand on your phone’s Clock app. Tap to open the My Disney Experience app several seconds before 1:00. Those few seconds will give your app just the right amount of time to open so you’ll be at the boarding screen when virtual queue functionality is available.
In the app, tap the “Join” button in the “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Request Access with Virtual Queue” section of the app’s main screen.
Refresh the app or close and reopen it if the Join button is not active. Keep refreshing until you’re assigned a boarding group number. Be prepared that you might not get one. Virtual queue space is limited, so plan on more than one Hollywood Studios day during your trip if Rise of the Resistance is a priority.
What do I do after I’ve joined the Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue?
With virtual queue success, you will be immediately assigned a boarding group number within the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue. You may be assigned a backup boarding group with a number number that isn’t guaranteed to ride that day.
Tap the “Check Status” link beside the “Join” button to monitor the current boarding group throughout the day.
You will receive a push notification on your phone when your Rise of the Resistance boarding group is called. Return to the ride entrance by the time indicated in the message, usually two hours after the boarding group number is posted.
When your Rise of the Resistance boarding group is called, proceed to the ride entrance where you’ll tap your ticket card or MagicBand to enter the ride queue.
From there, you will still have a wait, but the entire ride experience from queue entry, through the preshows, and to the ride conclusion is about one hour.
What if I have a reservation elsewhere when my Rise of the Resistance boarding group is called?
Since you cannot plan your Rise of the Resistance boarding group call time, Disney is quite lenient if you have scheduled plans.
You have two hours to get to the ride when your boarding group is called, but if you have a dining or activity reservation at that time, simply keep your reservation and return to the ride when you are able. Explain to one of the numerous cast members at the queue entry point that you had a reservation and you won’t have trouble entering the line as long as your boarding group number has already been called.
