Does the thought of waiting in long lines at Disney World fill you with dread and anxiety?
Believe it or not, there really are Magic Kingdom rides with no lines. Yes, the popular and thrilling rides will always require a wait, but there is always entertainment and fun to enjoy without standing in line for an hour or more. These Magic Kingdom rides and attractions with the shortest wait times are what we’ll be talking about today.
Save these Magic Kingdom rides for a busy day, when you can’t get FastPasses, or are just waiting for your next FastPass redemption window to open up. None of the attractions on this list require a FastPass or, if they do, one never needed. The point is, there’s always something to do without waiting at Magic Kingdom!
Most of these no-wait attractions are shows so the only waiting time is while the current show finishes so the theater can be filled again. As a result, shows will rarely require waiting more than 15 minutes and only that long if you JUST missed getting into the previous showing.
Another bonus about this list of attractions is they lack height restrictions so they can be enjoyed by any age!
Even when most Magic Kingdom rides are posting wait times of an hour or more, these attractions can usually be enjoyed with a wait of 15 minutes or less … if that!
Note: During Disney World’s 2020 phased reopening period, all of these attractions may not be open.
Magic Kingdom Rides with short wait times in Tomorrowland
The Carousel of Progress is a Disney World classic. The show started at the 1964 World’s Fair and has been in operation at Disney World since 1975. The 21-minute animatronic show takes place in a cool, indoor theater with comfortable seats. The show follows a family’s home technology through the 20th century and, although dated, is a popular favorite among Disney fans. The entire theater slowly rotates between scenes and a new theater fills with each rotation, about every five minutes, so you never have to wait long for the show to begin. It’s a great, long attraction that allows you to get off your feet for a while in the afternoon with little wait!
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover used be a consistent walk-on, but is gaining popularity. Some days it still has no line, but other times there is a short wait. This continuously-loading ride takes you on an elevated tour of Tomorrowland in vehicles with facing bench seats. One of the many reasons my family loves this ride is that the seating arrangement allows us to all enjoy the ride together. This ride is also on the long side – 10 minutes – making it a great pay off for the wait time. Note that when the PeopleMover goes inside the Space Mountain building and it gets pitch black for a short time, so warn the kiddos if complete darkness is a problem!
Still in Tomorrowland, the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is another indoor show with an indoor queue and a short wait. Despite offering FastPass, you won’t need it as the show reloads about every 15 minutes.
Shortest wait times in Fantasyland
Heading over to Fantasyland, the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel usually has a very short wait.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic is another indoor show with comfortable seating and an air-conditioned waiting area. This 4D show (3D movie with some artificial breezes and light water spritzing) is 12 minutes long so you won’t have to wait for more than one showing to be seated. The show features Donald Duck, who has taken Mickey Mouse’s sorcerer hat and proceeds to chase it through many classic Disney movie scenes.
Magic Kingdom shortest lines in Liberty Square
Over in Liberty Square, you’ll never have to wait for more than the previous showing at the Hall of Presidents, a theater show featuring animatronic of all U.S. presidents.
You can also catch a ride around the Rivers of America on the Liberty Belle Riverboat.
The Muppets Present … Great Moments in American History is an outdoor street show with many showings throughout the day. Unlike the Festival of Fantasy parade or nightly Happily Ever After fireworks, you don’t need to stake out a spot early. Just show up when the times guide indicates the show will begin and enjoy the Muppets!
Shortest lines in Frontierland and Adventureland
When in Frontierland, watch the Country Bear Jamboree show with little to no wait while enjoying the cool air conditioning.
The rafts to Tom Sawyer Island will usually only have a brief wait as well, but typically operate shorter daytime hours so be warned they won’t be open first thing in the morning or after sunset. Once on the island, the kids can run around, explore the Fort Langhorne and the caves, and enjoy lower crowd levels with just another brief wait for the raft that returns to the mainland.
While in Adventureland, The Enchanted Tiki Room is another classic attraction. The Disneyland counterpart was the first use of animatronics back in the early 1960s and the show today features over 100 singing and dancing animatronic birds.
The Swiss Family Treehouse is a walk-through attraction without a wait.
More Magic Kingdom Entertainment with no wait
In addition to actual attractions, there is also street entertainment that does not require arriving early or waiting. At 5:00 PM daily, there is a Flag Retreat ceremony in Town Square. The American flag that flies all day in Town Square is lowered, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited, and the Star Spangled Banner is sung. This ceremony is best viewed from above at the train station’s railing.
Also in the Main Street U.S.A. and Town Square area, you can catch the Dapper Dans barbershop quartet and Trolley Show. In Frontierland, there’s a daily Hoedown Happening around sundown. Check the Times Guide in the park for updated times on all entertainment.
Magic Kingdom also offers two interactive games which don’t require waiting in any lines. Pick up free (!!!) cards at the Town Square fire station to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and explore one of the Magic Kingdom’s lands. In Adventureland, play the interactive A Pirate’s Adventure game after picking up a free map at the marked location.
