Growing up a Disney kid, I always wanted to stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – “the hotel the monorail goes through.” The Contemporary has always been my dream Disney World resort. This year for my birthday, I finally made that dream a reality but booking a one-night stay for our family in a theme park view room in the main tower.

Now, we’ve been blessed with wonderful sprinklings of pixie dust several times at Disney World including a view upgrade at the Yacht Club. However, this day at the Contemporary was an downpour of pixie dust! Rather than simply being given a map with our room number, a cast member personally led us to the elevator and punched in the 14th floor, Tower Club level.

The 14th floor? But the standard rooms only go up to the 12th floor!

She led us down a hallway to a set of double doors (I repeat, double doors!) which opened into the largest hotel suite any of us have seen! Following a quick tour, the CM left while we picked our jaws up off the floor.

This one-bedroom suite at the end of the hall on the 14th floor occupies the space of three regular Contemporary rooms. The double doors open into a foyer with two large closets and a full bathroom before proceeding into a large living room with a sleeper sofa and entertainment center. The large living room space is shared by a round dining table with six chairs and a small kitchen with full-size refrigerator, cabinets, and a sink.

Staying in a Contemporary Tower Club one-bedroom suite is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we don’t expect to repeat. And to the lovely Disney cast member who decided to give us this complimentary upgrade, whoever and wherever you are, THANK YOU!
