Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has so many fabulous food offerings. On our most recent Walt Disney World vacation, we tried Sanaa for the first time. Oh my yum! This place should definitely be on everyone’s Disney dining bucket list … for five great reasons:

1. Window Views
Sanaa is located in the Kidani Village area of Animal Kingdom Lodge overlooking the Sunset Savannah. We made a lunch reservation just after opening time at 11:30 so that tables beside the windows would be available to watch the animals during our meal. One particular crane kept us company the entire time and we enjoyed watching giraffes and zebras meander around. We highly recommend lunch reservations or early dinner reservations in the summertime when it’s still daylight and the animals are roaming!

2. Bread Service
If you’ve heard anything about the food at Sanaa, you’ve probably heard about the Indian Style Bread Service. And for good reason! This appetizer is served with several types of naan bread and nine accompaniments ranging from mild to spicy. It’s a great way for the kids to try new flavors and they are all delicious!

3. Escape the Crowds
Animal Kingdom Lodge is already on the outskirts of Disney property and Sanaa is even further removed in Kidani Village, separate from the lodge’s main Jambo House building. It’s a complete escape from the hubbub of theme park chaos and a welcomed quiet retreat. I would recommend planning a Sanaa lunch several days into your trip when you need a break from the crowds for a few hours!

4. Unique Menu
The menu has fantastic African- and Indian-inspired entrees. Jeff enjoyed his Potjie Inspired sampler because he could customize the selections and try several different foods as part of the meal. My Tandoori chicken served on naan allowed me to extend my bread service enjoyment with our leftover sauces! And while there are more adventurous items on the kids menu, our kids have basic palettes so they were happy with their pizzas while Mom and Dad could try something unique.

5. Dessert!
Always save room for dessert! We all shared the Spice Trade Candy Bar, such a unique blend of chocolate, coconut, caramel, chai, pistachio … and probably more! It was the perfect size for the four of us to share and finish the meal with a few bites.
