We have done split stays at Disney World on recent trips and while we sample other resorts for a day or two at a time, one constant to our Disney vacations is Pop Century Resort. We consider it a home away from home and love it even more since the renovations.
Pop is our base on the long park days during split-stay vacations so we mainly use the resort for sleeping. We’ve enjoyed using the basic pools and ping pong tables, and often eat at the Everything Pop food court upon arrival after a long drive to Florida, but otherwise we love Pop for the rooms.
Here are the top five reasons we love Disney’s Pop Century Resort:
We love the recent 2017-18 renovation! Reviews are mixed, but we adore the minimalist decor and so many of the little updates – the sliding barn door separating the bathroom instead of a flimsy curtain, huge wall-mounted television, and a plethora of USB ports – ten!
2. Comfortable Queen Beds
The queen beds, an upgrade from the pre-renovation doubles, are super comfy and the boys sleep better with the additional space. One of the queens is a murphy bed that folds up into the wall, revealing a table in its place. The mattresses are identical, so Mommy and Daddy use the murphy bed which avoids the need to find a place for the boys lovies and blankets before closing the bed to use the breakfast table. Which leads to the next perk…
2020 Disney Trip Must-Have’s!
With the murphy bed folded up and out of the way, this small room gains so much usable space. We lower the bed only for sleeping, so we have ample room every morning while we all eat breakfast in the room and prepare for a day in the parks.
The bathroom is updated with numerous shelves and cabinets instead of the old single vanity. And we take full advantage of all the counter space provided by the long dresser and food storage unit in the main room. There’s even storage space under the platform bed which is where we stow our suitcases out of sight until departure day after unpacking into the three large dresser drawers.
Most exciting for Mommy is that there are bedside tables on both sides of both beds. Imagine that! Why this isn’t standard in every hotel room is mind-boggling, but it’s such small thing that makes a huge difference!
Hands down, Pop Century is the most economical way for us to stay on property at Walt Disney World. Most times of the year, standard room rates are just over $100 per night, usually with discounts available. We get all of the benefits of staying on site with 60-day FastPass reservations and close proximity to the parks, especially for Hollywood Studios and EPCOT days. We can’t wait to go “home” again!
